"If you are unhappy with the size or shape of your breasts, breast augmentation may be the right choice for you."~Dr. Koch
Where your breast implants are placed or positioned can have dramatic influence on your outcome. Dr. Koch understands the complexities of Breast Augmentation surgery. He will guide you into making the best decisions. Whether it's deciding on the most appropriate implant saline or gel, incision location, profile, sizing; the placement of the implants will play a crucial role in the outcome of your procedure. Dr Koch and his staff will assist in reaching these decisions.
You have four different placement options: subglandular (under the breast tissue), subfascial (under the fascia), submuscular (under the muscle) or dual plane (partially under the muscle and under the breast tissue). Dr. Todd B. Koch of Buffalo, New York will help to determine which location will best meet your cosmetic needs.
In selecting the most suitable location for your saline or silicone gel breast implants, there are various factors to consider. This includes soft tissue coverage, the quality of your breast tissue and skin, breast sagging, and physical activity.
Typically, saline implants are more round in appearance and firmer to the feel. They are also more palpable and more likely to develop visible rippling or folds as compared to the natural feel and appearance of silicone gel. Saline implants are commonly placed under the chest muscle to add an extra layer of tissue; this is intended to help camouflage the implants and make them appear more natural-looking for the patient. Placing the implants under the muscle can also help to decrease scar tissue formation, while at the same time, making it easier to perform mammography. Dr. Koch will evaluate the breast implants after they are placed in order to determine symmetry, positioning, and the overall cosmetic result. After this stage is complete, he will close the incisions and a sports bra will be applied.
Implant placement plays a major role in this procedure, so it is recommended that you consult an experienced professional, such as Dr. Koch, during a one-on-one consultation.
