"You need to know all the options and choices that are available to you."
~ Dr. Koch
Breast enlargement surgery offers many benefits to women, such as being able to wear certain fashions, feeling more feminine, and attaining greater self-confidence. However, in order to get there, prospective patients will need to carefully research breast augmentation so that they can make the necessary decisions regarding breast implant surgery.
In addition to choosing their preferred type of implants (saline or silicone gel), where the implants are to be placed in the chest wall, and the most appropriate sizing and profile of the implant, individuals will also need to evaluate where they want the incision to be located.
At Amherst Cosmetic Surgery Center, Buffalo plastic surgeon, Dr. Todd B. Koch will help to determine which breast implant incision site may be the most suitable for your body type and will meet your needs.
Most commonly, Dr. Koch will place the incision around the areola or underneath the breast in the natural fold. This depends on the patient's preference and body type, as well as his recommendation. The less common locations for the incisions include the axilla and umbilicus, because the small size of these incisions will allow access for only a saline implant or a very small gel implant. (Saline comes in an hollow shell and is filled after insertion, while silicone is pre-filled.)
A space will then be created to accommodate the implant. The implant can be placed in different locations, which can be discussed during your visit with Dr. Koch.
